Ottis Houston, Pontotoc
Ottis Houston, age 91, died Wednesday, August 03, 2011 at the VA Nursing Home in Oxford. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and a retired Engineer. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran, where he was involved in the Batan death march. He was a captured a few days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was a POW for 3 years, 7 months and 8 days, he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Ottis Houston, age 91, died Wednesday, August 03, 2011 at the VA Nursing Home in Oxford. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and a retired Engineer. Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, August 5, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Johnathan Baker officiating; burial will follow in the Bay Springs Cemetery in Bay Springs, MS. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his two daughters: Linda Houpt (Alan) of Ecru and Sandra Estes (Warren) of Bay Springs, MS; a son: Johnny Stephens (Rachel) of Mendenhall, MS; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Vester E. Houston and Hattie Daughtry Houston; his wife: Lucy Mae Thornton; and a grandson: Scott Estes.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 PM Thrusday and from 9 to 10 AM Friday at the funeral home.
